IrelandAM presenter Anna Daly

As one of the most beautiful faces on Irish TV, IrelandAM presenter Anna Daly began her TV career behind the scenes in TV3’s marketing department. A former model, her stunning looks did not go unnoticed and she was quickly catapulted in front of the cameras as part of the breakfast TV team. Oonagh Clarke catches up with the Irish beauty to discuss mornings, make-up and massages...

Oonagh: After spending those few days filming French Cosmetics in Paris together for IrelandAM last year, I definitely think you are very beautiful. How do you do it?

Anna: Thank you very much! I certainly would never consider myself to be beautiful. All I can say is that the hair and make-up department in TV3 work wonders!

Oonagh: How important is how you look to your career?

Anna: Being on TV, of course it matters how I look - I am not going to roll up to work in a tracksuit or something - but I really don’t view how I look as being very important for what I do and I am certainly not hugely concerned about it. On IrelandAM we get a lot of texts from viewers and for me it is not the ‘Anna looks fat today’ texts or the ‘I don’t like Anna’s hair today’ texts that bother me. I can handle being criticised for how I look. However, it’s the criticism about the content of my interviews that are more likely to get me.

Oonagh: I imagine being on TV every morning means that have to spend a lot of time grooming. Tell me about your beauty regime?

Anna: Well, I am not saying I am perfect, but I am pretty good at cleansing, toning and moisturising. I am pretty lucky with my skin - I can use a whole load of products across a whole spectrum of prices and my skin doesn’t suffer. That means that I have no real brand loyalty to any one skin care line in particular. I

could drink more water, but I never go to bed with my make-up on!

Oonagh: Tell me about your make-up routine?

Anna: Every morning I’m on TV, I am smothered with make-up, so I like to keep it natural and simple when I am not

working. I usually do my own make-up for work while I am having my hair done, but regularly get my face powdered down by the TV3 make-up artist between segments to avoid shine. When I have a shoot or am going to an event, I get my make-up done by Make-up Forever.
