Co-located with Fespa Digital 2011, Fespa Fabric is the perfect fit for garment printers and decorators looking for new products and information.
Building on the launch event in 2010, Fespa Fabric will run 24 to 26 May 2011, at Messe Hamburg in Germany. It has already picked up names such as Brother, Chemica/Sefar, Karl Groener, Kornit, Marcodie, Melco, Polyprint and Stahl, with Kornit Digital as event sponsor. Fespa sales and marketing director, Marcus Timson, said: “Through a programme of live demonstrations, hands-on workshops, side shows, seminars and show floor exhibits, Fespa Fabric allows participants to see, touch and try everything from screen printed special effects to digital direct-to-garment printing, embroidery to embellishment, high fashion to promo wear.”
Popular interactive features from the 2010 event will return, including Charlie’s Corner, a creative screen printing workshop, Fresener’s Fabric, a theatre-based programme of educational content and the Fabric Live! fashion show. New for this year, the Apparel Store will re-create a fashion retail environment where manufacturers of pre-print garments can showcase their collections to prospective customers

Announced at the end of 2010, the Angel Awards recognised EFI's Rastek T1000 flat-bed wide-format printer as one of the top ten most innovative introductions in the wide format arena last year.Ease of set up, accuracy and versatility were among the reasons the Rastek T1000 gained an Angel Award. In the competitive area for entry-level UV-curable flat-bed printers, this machine also scored for the strength of its zoned vacuum areas, making it simple to work with single and multiple smaller sheets. Its two shuttered mercury arc UV lamps feature variable power settings for efficient curing.

Distributor of PrintFactory software, Four Pees, is working as an alliance partner of HP in the creation of JDF features and specifications for wide-format applications. This will necessitate involvement in the wide format workgroup of the international cooperation for the integration of processes in prepress, press, and postpress organisation (CIP4), with the aim of defining open JDF standards for wide-format printing workflows.

PrintFactory is one of the first solutions to achieve HP certification under a new program that allows partner workflow solutions to be HP certified for wide format printing JDF exchange. HP certification assures that workflow solutions exchanging JDF will interoperate properly with each other, allowing PSPs to build an e-storefront to market their services, take advantage of production automation tools to reduce costs and differentiate their service offerings through automated customer relationship management tools. Chief technology officer with Four Pees, David van Driessche, said: “Heightened economic pressure and shortened job preparation requirements continue to increase the need for automation in wide-format printing workflows.”

Since Landor Phototex self-adhesive printable wall fabric was featured on channel five's 'The Gadget Show,’ managing director of Landor, Derric Landor, says the product has received an exceptional boost.
The digitally printable self-adhesive fabric featured in a DIY shootout comparing traditional wallpaper with digitally printed wallpaper. DIY celebrity, Tommy Walsh used conventional wallpaper and paste while the show’s presenter Suzi Perry, put up a Landor Phototex mural printed on an Epson 11880 inkjet printer. Derric Landor explained: “Since the show was aired we’ve had hundreds of people asking for home murals.”
