Ribbons have special effects tied up

Summa's DC4 thermal transfer printer now features three new ribbons: matte silver, matte gold and rose holographic.

The rose holographic ribbon has an impression in the shape of a rose and can be used in combination with all other DC colours. It can be used to create special effects in prints and boasts unlimited creative possibilities. The matte silver and matte gold ribbons are particularly suitable for the creation of decals and serial number labels, particularly in combination with dooming, where they are said to give brilliant results.

Metallic ink makes customised packaging attractive

Suitable for use in a range of digital decoration applications, Xennia introduces its XenInx Onyx metallic ink. This is expected to open up the benefits of just-in-time customised digital graphics and package production to users requiring metallic printing.

Applications for XenInx Onyx metallic silver ink include packaging, graphics, labelling and product decoration. It can also be used in combination with XenInx Diamond or XenInx Alexandrite CMYK inks to produce a coloured metallic appearance. The ink works with a range of piezo printheads and is recommended for use with Xennia printing systems and XenJet inkjet modules using Xennia's recirculating inkjet technology.

Managing director of Xennia, Dr Alan Hudd, said: “XenInx Onyx provides reflectivity to rival that of metallic inks printed by screen, gravure or other traditional printing methods. It also offers consistent print performance with good adhesion and durability. “Brand owners need to print shorter packaging runs economically. Using XenInx Onyx, package printers can keep producing attractive and creative packaging while addressing the need for customised printing.”
