Recycled board rocks

Meet Reggie the Eco Rocker. He’s passionate about the environment, loves nothing more than teaching kids how to rock…and he’s a UK thoroughbred

sustainable take on a traditional kids toy, created by designer, Shell Thomas. In fact, Dufaylite's Ultra Board is already providing innovation in print, signage, display and design and this story is another great example of how the versatile substrate is being used creatively.

UK recycled paper honeycomb manufacturer, Dufaylite, is supplying up and coming designer, Shell Thomas, with its Ultra Board. This is a lightweight and 100 per cent recyclable substrate, which is said to be highly versatile, as Shell's Eco Rocker product demonstrates. Reggie is the newly launched, modern and sustainable alternative to a treasured and traditionally expensive children's toy and he is already proving a hit with creative kids across the country. The rocking horse arrives flat- packed, blank and ready to be brought to life at home using pencils, crayons, glitter, glue and a little imagination from budding young designers. The Ultra Board product was also used by Shell in her winter window displays for Oliver Bonas stores in London. Shell used the material to create a range of winter wildlife including birds and a life-size family of deer. Designer, Shell Thomas, explained: “I use Ultra Board for a range of applications. In addition to being incredibly strong in load- bearing situations, it is also a perfect material for temporary and one-off structures because it is 100 per cent recyclable when it is time to dispose of the old and create the next scheme. “Dufaylite can cut Ultra Board according to my detailed designs, meaning that virtually anything is possible in terms of realising a vision for retail clients.”

Chief executive of Dufaylite, Tony Moscrop, described how popular Ultra Board is now:

“Ultra Board has become a big hit with designers. We also supplied Ultra Board for use in a number of high street winter window displays including Selfridges’ stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Walking down Oxford Street and through St Pancras, I saw an elephant, a giant Christmas tree and Shell Thomas’ deer all crafted from Ultra Board. It’s great to see the product being used so creatively!”

As the sole UK manufacturer of recycled paper honeycomb, which provides a 100 per cent recyclable, robust and versatile core material, Dufaylite Group's Ultra Board is said to have become an innovation in the signage

industry. Furthermore, it is also used in many industrial applications.

Due to its ongoing commitment to developing eco-friendly products, Dufaylite Group is ISO 14001 accredited with regard to its environmental management standards, which is of course true to form for Reggie's eco credentials.
