P

rintwear & Promotion Live (February 27 to March 1, 2011, Hall 12, NEC Birmingham) is the essential platform for taking your business forward. Widely heralded as the event where the industry comes alive, we’re expecting 90 plus exhibitors at this year’s show, with some exciting launches in prospect, a number of first time exhibitors and hundreds of products to see.

With new brands, new machinery to see, a new promotional merchandise pavilion, free to attend seminars, professionally choreographed fashion shows and, of course, the chance to tap into an unrivalled pool of technical expertise, we are confident that this year’s show will be one of the best ever.

And for those who can’t afford to be away from work in the week, the show conveniently opens on a Sunday.

On the screen printing front, MHM is planning to use the show for a ground breaking – some might say revolutionary – launch. Digotex have developed what can be truly called the first digital AND screen-printing machine.

Ovals have gradually fallen from favour over the years for various reason but with the

Digotex iD interest will be revitalised. There is just so much about this machine that is different. Firstly the machine is not driven in the standard way using a motor and chain. Instead each head is driven separately using an on-board motor connected to a track. This makes each head independent in both use and control and it will, under normal use, never lose registration. It also means that a digital print head can be added to the machine in effect making the machine dual use. In fact it can print a standard screen print and a digital print at the same time, with the machine split between the two, at the rate of 700 shirts per hour for each job. And if that is not enough it has been reported that these figures are quite conservative and are likely to be revised upwards in the future. It even satisfies the ecologists as the machine runs on much less power than a standard machine. The iDrive is also modular in construction so print heads and stations can be added at any time. You may start with a 6 colour but, if needs be, further colours and stations can be added up to a maximum of 54 colours with 60 stations.

The Magic Touch will be demonstrating the new TMT/Oki printer 14

Safety has also been considered with the machines stopping immediately if an arm hits somebody or something removing the need for safety rails around the machine. This is not something you could risk with a standard machine. Although they have started with an oval machine a carousel is right on its heels and this one has an added benefit in that, although it works like a standard carousel, it has no central turntable. In effect the track can be installed anywhere in your factory even around that annoying, space wasting, pillar.
