A WINE HISTORY LESSON
VOYAGES TO ANTIQUITY have one of the most fascinating cruises for those interested in wine in the Mediterranean. Their onboard lectures highlight the history and importance of wine in Roman times, coupled with Italian wine tastings and winery visits ashore.
The talks cover what most
Romans ate and drank on an everyday basis, how they shopped and the ingredients they bought. Wine, sourced from small wineries along the ship’s routes, is changed frequently and is served with dinner at no extra cost.

They use their Round the World cruises in particular to focus on wine knowledge, with representa- tives from wineries featured on the new fleet wine list hosting lectures and special dinners of menus selected by the winery, again with different wines matched to each dish.
The special meals have proved so popu- lar that often two such winery-hosted din- ners have to be offered to accommodate the demand. For those taking the whole cruise, a special wine-matched dinner is also hosted ashore.

or other cruises in the coming year there will be new champagne-tast- ings and expert lecturers from Roth-
schild, Prinz Von Hesson and Dr Loosen wine companies, while, on every voyage, the Chief Sommelier hosts a tasting of wines from the ship’s list. Staff on board are trained with all the wine suppliers to be knowledgeable about the new wines available on board. Hebridean Princess gets its wines from
