ROB COOPER: 10 YEARS AT UBISOFT
AWARDS AND UPWARDS
Three award-winning moments stand out for me over the last ten years. They are:
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter took home two out of eight BAFTAs in 2006.
At the 2010 Children’s BAFTAs Rabbids Go Homewas voted Best Game and Just Dance was voted Best Game in the children’s votes.
At the MCV Awards 2010 Just Dancewon New Games Brand and Sales Triumph awards.
2007: ASSASSIN STRIKES
Assassin’s Creedwas an absolute masterpiece, a game of groundbreaking beauty and we were very proud to introduce another home grown IP and launch it with such impact. This is very much in line with our original goals, as outlined earlier, and I’m immensely proud to work
2009 & 2010: JUST DESSERTS
Did we expect Just Dance to be a monster hit? In a word, no!
There was certainly a lot of internal enthusiasm and support for Just Dance– it’s a hugely fun game and impossible not to enjoy, whatever your dancing ability. We knew this was a launch we would have a lot of fun with and that would tap into the cultural dancing phenomenon in the UK but I

guess we had no idea just how big that craze would be. Our sales analysts did an amazing job in forecasting and monitoring the market’s requirements, meaning we could respond quickly to the demand at retail and keep sales moving.
Who would have
imagined that a toe-tapper like Just Dancewould knock Call of Dutyoff the top spot! The game sold
amazingly well for the full 12 months until we launched Just Dance 2in October and I’m pleased to say that the phenomenon continues. In fact, we’ve never yet had a week where the original game has sold less than in its launch week.
And it will forever be one of my more surreal industry memories: watching Dizzee Rascal playing Just Dance 2at our official launch party.

for a company that has retained such a clear vision and remained true to it. Creating games like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Vegas, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Endwarand many others hopefully demonstrated our ability to offer a depth of content.
We’ve obviously gone on to improve and refine the Assassin’s Creed franchise further and Eurogamer’s 10/10 score for this year’s Assassin’s Creed Brotherhoodwas a great testament to the superb development team that created the game.
