The University of Maryland, College Park Facilities Management seeks an Assistant Director, HVAC Mechanical Systems Support to direct the operation of HVAC Systems mechanical staff who replace, service and maintain fume hoods in laboratories, air compressors, hydronic pumps and Satellite Central Utility Buildings throughout the UMCP campus as well as perform specific HVAC retrofit repairs and HVAC pipefitting and electric related installations. Duties also include managing facility renewal projects totaling approximately $1.5 million dollars annually. The successful candidate will also provide global supervisory management of mechanical pipe fi tters and electricians to insure industry standards are implemented in Unit performance of work. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree in Engineering or a related field; minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience with building HVAC systems; and field experience with underground piping (i.e. steam, chilled water, domestic water, sanitary, and storm) required. Must have field experience (system analysis, equipment trouble shooting, system operations). Supervisory experience required, 5 years preferred. HVAC systems operations and steam systems experience highly desirable. Must be an effective communicator and be PC literate including the ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, email and computer aided drafting (CAD).
SALARY/BENEFITS: UM offers a competitive benefits package, commensurate with qualifications and experience with a starting salary range from the low $90,000s to over $110,000.

The Department of Residential Facilities at the University of Maryland, College Park is currently seeking to hire an individual experienced in institutional/commercial housekeeping to assist in the overall management of the department’s housekeeping program. The Oakland/Denton area consists of two student residential high rise communities, with 4 buildings and approximately 600,000 sq. ft. of space. The program operates five days a week with regular weekend coverage.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Through one level of intermediate supervision, the Housekeeping Manager will direct a full-time, permanent work force of 20 – 28 personnel and have overall responsibility for ensuring all buildings are effectively maintained. Position will be responsible for ensuring all program employees are properly trained and equipped, that work expectations are clearly communicated and enforced, and that performance and disciplinary problems are properly addressed/corrected and documented. Position will regularly inspect building conditions to assess performance and effectiveness of program, and will adjust assignments and/or work methods or products as needed to improve noted condition deficiencies. Position will organize and direct housekeeping-related support for special events. Position will develop and maintain positive working relationships with program managers in the facilities we maintain. As needed, will work with customer management personnel to assess satisfaction with facility conditions. Position typically works a five day work week which may occasionally include a Saturday or Sunday. regular daily work period will be 7:30 – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and valid driver’s license required, College degree preferred. Eight years’ experience in commercial/institutional housekeeping/custodial work four years of which should entail supervision/management of housekeeping personnel. Excellent communication, problem solving and supervisory skills and knowledge of current housekeeping technology, equipment and processes essential. Proficient business writing/administrative skills needed. Candidates with International Executive Housekeeping Certification (IEHA), Registered Executive Housekeeper (REH), or Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) preferred.
BENEFITS: Starting salary in mid to upper $50,000’s, depending on experience. Benefit
