Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Josephine Paris Drenning, who lived in the retirement com- munity of Village on the Green in Longwood, FL, departed her active and fun life style on December 15, 2010. Her death is preceded by her daughter,BarbaraGibbons,who died in 2007 and her daughter,Jackie Fessler, who died in 1968. Josephine Drenning grew up in Georgia and came to the Washington, D.C. area as ayoung woman. She was employed by the Federal government and completed her masters in her mid forties at Stanford University,Palo Alto,CA. Josephine had adistinguished and successful career, achieving senior status while working with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. Following years of long work hours and rais- ing four children, she decided to retire in her late fifties and spend time having fun. She had apassion for gardening and landscaping, which led her to eventually settling in Florida where it was warm and sunny year around. She traveled the world extensively to many exotic places,including ahumanitarian mis- sion to Cuba this past year.Josephine was young at heart, an elegant and gracious

She was an accomplished author with articles published in many prominent magazines and newspapers,including aregular guest column for the El Paso Times.Peggy retired from the Drug Enforcement Agency after a career in El Paso,Texas and Washington, D.C. Went to be with our Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ, on Wednesday,December 8, 2010 in Ogden, UT.Born in Arlington, VA,and raised in Falls Church, VA,she is survived by husband, Bob Freeborn; former husband, Kim Smith; daughter,Desiree Smith; sister,Nancy Mid- delthon and many other family members and friends.A former elementary school teacher, she is forever immortalized on film riding a horse in 1970's "Woodstock" documentary based on the 1969 music festival of the same name.Family and friends are gathering at Oakey's Funeral Home,318 Church Avenue, Roanoke,VA, 24016, on Monday,December 20, 2010, from 4to6p.m., with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,December 21, 2010.

Of Springfield, VA,passed peacefully at home on December 15, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.Donna was an amazing moth- er,active grandmother and faithful friend. She was born on September 26, 1942 in Johnstown, PA to Anthony and Hilda Spenger. Donna is survived by daughters,LauraArmati and Jennifer Stecker and son-in-law,John Armati. She is also survived by her six grand- children, Paul, Andrew,Will, Jacob,Kieran, and Quinn. She was adear sister to Mary Antoinette,Agnes,Sister Terence OSF,and Charlene; as well as acherished friend to the many people whose lives she touched. Donna worked for the U.S. Government, Dio- cese of Arlington and most recently as a Master Gardener at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, VA.She will be missed greatly but her kind spirit, zest for life,and loving ways will keep her alive in the hearts of many.A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at the Church of the Nativity,6400 Nativity Lane, Burke,VAonJanuary 8, 2011 at 12 Noon.
