1 Publicis QMP has announced the appointment of Padraig Burns as manag- ing director. Burns has been deputy managing director of the agency for the last four years. He started his advertising career in New York in the early 1990s. Before joining Publicis QMP, he held a number of senior positions in Irish adver- tising including directorships of McConnells Advertising and IAPI.
2 Noel Curran has been revealed as the next director general of RTÉ, a role he will take up next February. Curran, who was man- aging director of RTÉ Television from 2003 until March 2010, began working as a business journalist after completing a BA in communications at Dublin City University. He was deputy editor with Business & Finance before joining RTÉ in 1992. He worked as a reporter, produc- er and editor in RTÉ Television. He was executive producer of the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin in 1997 and served two terms as editor of current affairs in the news division, where he established the Prime Time Investigates programme strand. He left RTÉ earlier this year to pursue a consultancy and other private business interests. He has
previously been a company director in the independent production sector in Ireland.
3 ICAN has appointed Patrick McConville as strategic media manager. McConville has over seven years’ experience in strategic media planning and buying while work- ing with full service and specialist media agencies. Prior to his appointment at ICAN, he was a senior media planner with AV Browne Group. He holds an honours degree in communication, advertising and marketing from the University of Ulster, Belfast.
4 Ciarán Farrell has been appointed business development manager at ICAN. Farrell is a marketing and business development professional with over 12 years’ experi- ence in traditional and online marketing, business development and technology. He joins ICAN having spent over three years working with legal technologies firm, Kroll Ontrack. He holds an honours degree in business information manage- ment, a diploma in public relations from the PRII, and a diploma in digital market- ing from the Digital Marketing Institute.
5 Nikki Latchford has been promoted to sen- ior account manager at Pembroke Communications. Latchford joined Pembroke in 2009 from Weber Shandwick, having worked across the corporate and healthcare practices. Prior to this, she worked in the business com- munications division at Fleishman- Hillard. She graduated with a BA (hons) in sociology and French from Trinity College Dublin and holds a master’s degree in public relations from Dublin Institute of Technology.
6 Littlewoods Ireland has appointed Róisín Reilly as head of PR. Reilly has over seven years’ experience in the business having previously held positions with Heneghan PR and Plunkett Communications. During her time with Heneghan PR, she managed the Littlewoods Ireland PR account as well as a number of other consumer and lifestyle brands. In her new role, she is responsible for the cre- ation and implementation of the PR strategy, both consumer and corporate, for the Littlewoods Ireland brand as well as the management of internal commu- nications and CSR programmes.
