AVID PRODUCT REFERENCE
PRO TOOLS|HD NATIVE Aimed at music studios and post production houses, Pro Tools|HD Native provides Pro Tools HD software running entirely on computer CPU host-processing power. It offers the same outstanding Pro Tools HD performance without the additional dedicated hardware of the larger Pro Tools|HD DSP-assisted systems
Based around a newly developed Pro Tools|HD Native PCIe card (pictured above left) and running Pro Tools HD software, the Pro Tools|HD Native system provides simplified, open workflows for recording, editing and mixing. It uses Pro Tools HD Series interfaces for up to 64 channels of premium audio conversion and input/output. On top of this, there’s support for Sync HD, enabling reliable, accurate synchronisation to picture for post production workflows. The Pro Tools|HD Native system integrates with Avid ICON and C|24 work surfaces, for integrated monitoring and tactile control. And,
for simplified collaboration, it also features lossless session and project interchange with other Pro Tools and Avid video editing systems. As well as these key features, Pro Tools|HD Native provides third- party DAW support, which further opens up workflows by giving users the flexibility to work on the DAW of choice, with support for Core Audio and ASIO drivers. This enables broad compatibility with third-party audio applications, including Apple Logic and Steinberg Cubase. Pro Tools|HD Native has an integrated low latency mixer, making it possible to focus on recording high quality audio with near-zero latency,
rather than having the enforced distraction of managing a separate low latency mixer.
Andrew Scheps, producer, mixer and engineer for bands including the Rolling Stones, U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, says: “Pro Tools|HD Native is amazing. It was incredibly easy to set up and allowed me to open up a mix I’d been working on in HD and get right to work, using the same 64 channels of analog I/O as well as my Sync I/O.”
Pro Tools|HD Native is available for both Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard 10.6 (or higher). It costs £2,150, or, bundled with Pro Tools HD OMNI, is available from £4,300.
