7 Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard has appointed Denis O’Flynn as its commercial director for Ireland. In this role, O’Flynn will be responsible for all commercial and mar- keting activities for the Irish market, including Dillon Bass in Northern Ireland. He joined Irish Distillers in 1998 as human resources director, having held numerous positions in the drinks industry in Ireland since 1984.


8 Margaret Durand has recently joined Passion for Creative as development direc- tor. In her new role, she is taking on responsibility for client strategic market- ing, business development, PR, training and mentoring. Durand has over 10 years’ marketing experience, working with and in the SME sector, in addition to international experience. Having started her career in an agency environment, she went on to work for NTL, ABB, Seat and Waterford Institute of Technology. While working full-time, she built a part- time consultancy business. Amember of MII, Durand is also communications offi- cer with Network Waterford.


9 John McGlade has been appointed director of sales and marketing at MarketSpreads.ie. McGlade, who has extensive expertise in advertising, mar- keting and PR spanning financial servic- es and dotcom sectors, previously workedwith several corporates including Adsell, American Express and First-e, as well as running a number of his own businesses. He holds a BComm from UCD.


10 Gemma Corbett has been appointed account director at MediaVest. In this role, she will be responsible for managing media strategy and planning. Her client portfolio includes Dublin City Council, Batchelors Foods, Eircom Phonewatch, United Biscuits, RSA Insurance and Betfair. Corbett joinedMediaVest in 2006 fromViacomBrand Solutions,where she was agency sales manager. Prior to this, she worked in Cawley Nea/TBWA for three years. She is a graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology, Aungier Street and has an honours degree in manage- ment and marketing.


11 William Grant & Sons has appointed Enda O’Sullivan as global brand director for Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. He is based at the company’s new global marketing office, recently established at ParkWest, Dublin. O’Sullivan has over 12 years’ international marketing experience and joins from Cadbury Schweppes (Australia), where he was group market- ing manager. He previously worked with Intel as European marketing manager and the Irish Dairy Board as senior brand manager. He holds a BA in international marketing with languages (German and French) from DCU and a postgraduate diploma in financial management from DBS.


12 Sports broadcaster Ryle Nugent has been appointed RTÉ group head of sport, follow- ing a public competition. In this position he is directly responsible for RTÉ Sport across television, radio, publishing and news. Nugent, who has been deputy head of television sport at RTÉ since 2006, succeeds Glen Killane who was recently appointed managing director of RTÉ Television. He has worked with RTÉ as a sports presenter and rugby com- mentator since 1995, having joined from 98FM.


13 The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast has appoint-


ed Siobhan O’Sullivan as director of sales and marketing. O’Sullivan has over 10 years’ experience within the Irish hotel and catering industry, including market- ing and operational roles at the Park Plaza, Stillorgan Park and Mespil hotels, all in Dublin, and Marriott Johnstown House Hotel & Spa inMeath. From2009 to 2010, she was vice-president of the Dublin 15 Chamber of Commerce and member of the Fingal Dublin Hotels group and Business Network International.


14 Philip Allen has been appointed head of marketing at McDowell Purcell Solicitors. Previous positions include marketing manager at UHY Farrelly Dawe White and general insurancemarketing associ- ate at Permanent TSB Bank. Allen holds an honours degree in marketing from Dundalk IT and is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland.


15 Vanessa Johnston has established her own marketing consultancy, Outsourceme. Johnston, who was marketing and part- nership director at Pigsback.comfor two years prior to setting up the company, has almost 20 years’ marketing and online experience. She previously worked with Nestlé, Kraft Foods and Coca-Cola, and has also worked in Australia, where she was general man- ager of Adair Marketing, a specialist cross-promotion agency. Johnston was the winner of this year’s IIA Net Visionary Internet Marketer Award. She lectures in marketing and communications at NCI and is a member of the board of Children’s Books Ireland.
