MUNICIPAL HIRE Iona secures order from Finlay
Finlay Hire has signed a deal to pur- chase the new Airtrac 3200 S from Iona Waste Systems. The Airtrac 3200 S is manufactured in Northern Ireland and combines German technology from two market leaders – Hein Lehmann and Westeria – to deliver a versatile, mobile waste pro- cessing machine suitable for a wide range of waste sectors. It is particularly effective in manag- ing small fraction fines clean-up, rang- ing from 0 to 50mm.
Dave Statham of Finlay Hire says: “This machinery offers great opportuni- ties for us. It’s all go for Johnston
Go Plant has ordered 33 sweep- ers from Johnston Sweepers, comprising 19 VT650 truck- mounted vehicles and 14 CX200 compacts. Twelve of the CX200 compacts are for supply to Salford City Council, as part of a fleet replacement programme agreed when Go Plant won the Salford contract in 2007. The order of high specification machines means that the council will continue with an all-Johnston fleet of compact sweepers for the next three years. Three of the VT650 truck sweepers are to be supplied to South West Sweepers, with the remaining 16 machines joining Go Plant’s spot hire fleet. The final two CX200s compacts will go out to Cheshire West. Go Plant operates a Johnston-strong fleet of 150 sweepers.

Selwood has
ordered nearly 120 machines to add to its portfolio
Selwood’s new plant for rental
Plant and pump hire company Selwood has invested nearly £2.5M with Ammann Equipment since the begin- ning of the year on new plant for its own rental fleet.
Nearly 120 machines have been ordered with most already delivered to the company’s branches throughout the country. These range from 1.5 tonne to 10 tonne mini-excavators and 80 to 130cm tandem rollers. Selwood’s operations director Jon
Sendell comments: “This is a signifi- cant and sizeable investment in diffi- cult times, but we have to ensure that we can meet our local customer demands. Plant hire is a capital inten- sive business and it is important that we continue to invest in and update our fleet to ensure that we maintain our ability to provide our customers with an extremely reliable service.”
