EXPLORE THE BENEFITS OF USAT’S CERTIFIED TRAINING AND PERFORMANCE CENTERS
USA Triathlon currently has existing partnerships with certified performance training centers located in Santa Monica, Calif., New Orleans, La., West Burlington, Iowa, and Littleton, Colo., as well as a certified performance center in Atlanta, Ga., and recently certified performance center in Scott sdale, Ariz., and a new certified training center in New York City.

These certified centers offer members, coaches and athletes performance testing facilities; access to USAT certified coaches, swim, bike and run analysis and state of the art training equipment.

Additi onal services offered at these facilities include a complete performance lab following USAT testing protocols – VO2 and Lactate, as well as bike fitting services, nutrition consultation, access to a sport psychologist and physical therapy and massage services.

The current facilities offer USAT members free passes and 20 percent off select services and discounted testing, merchandise and membership. The facilities provide elite-level coaching, race programming, and testing facilities for endurance athletes at every level, beginners and elites alike. These facilities are a great opportunity for USAT coaches and athletes to train and take advantage of testing and other top notch services in these areas.

Each of the certified performance and training center facilities have met rigorous requirements set forth by USA Triathlon to become certified and must stay compliant with all established criteria.

Performance centers serve as a host site for educational courses and provide performance testing using USOC protocols and benchmarks as well as free access to 2012 and 2016 Elite National Team members.

Beyond the above services that must be offered by a performance center, additional requirements include having a complete performance lab, 25-meter pool or an endless pool and a recovery center.

A certified performance training center has more specific and additional requirements that include a 25-meter pool (six-plus lanes), a 400-meter track, trainer or spin room, treadmills that go up to 12-15 mph and a meeting room that comfortably seats 50 or more people. The facilities must be within 30 minutes drive to a major airport and have hotels and trail access within one mile of the facility.

Each facility is a mecca for multisport enthusiasts of all ages so make sure to visit a certified training or performance center in your local community or next time when traveling to a race to utilize these state of the art facilities and assist you in your training and racing goals! Keep an eye out for additional facilities to be certified in Houston and Chicago and other locations that are currently being reviewed.
