test. There’s even a four-player force showdown mode on Wii, allowing a group of players to take each other on. But it’s the Star Wars brand that really brings the game to life. “Star Wars is a cross-generational phenomena,” adds Wood.

“Everyone has heard of it and almost everyone has seen at least one of the movies or the new Clone Wars series.

The movies make up five of the top 40 movies of all time, the merchandise has generated in excess of $13bn worldwide in retail sales to date. “When you have the Star Wars universe to work with, you can expect some great creative. “We’re extremely lucky to be working with LucasArts and the Star Wars franchise.”

FANTASY RPG fans are a dedicated bunch – and publisher SouthPeak is providing them with a whole new adventure to sink their teeth into. Two Worlds II is the follow-up to the 2007 original which enjoyed four weeks in the UK Xbox 360 Top Ten games chart, and treated fans with two free downloadable expansion packs. The sequel explores the next chapter in the game’s fictional world of Antaloor, where the central hero must investigate his mysterious roots in a storyline that promises atmosphere and plenty of twists. New locations include deserts, ancient towns and temples. Other additions include the ‘Grace’ game engine with improved lighting and graphical effects, HD motion capture for realistic character movement and ‘Real Eye Adaptation’ that recreates facial animations to convey emotions better than before. Developer TopWare has also refined the gameplay and levelling system in Two Worlds II to create a rich RPG experience offering hundreds of hours of game time. Essentially gameplay is a

third person mix of action, RPG and exploration, comparable to hits such as Demon’s Souls and Oblivion. Two Worlds was noted for its Shakespearean-style Old English voice acting, and this attempt to provide a realistic script immediately set it apart from other RPGs on the market. The sequel promises even more of this humorous dialogue from a new cast of voice actors.

SouthPeak is so confident that all these improvements to the Two Worlds series will make a superior sequel, it has coined a new word to describe it – ‘astronepic’. This is apparently because the word ‘epic’ alone doesn’t quite capture the grand scale of the game. Yes, seriously. Two Worlds II is released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this winter.
