MCV 17/09/10 17 UKIE STRATEGY
On board with
Following ELSPA’s transformation into UKIE last week, MCV catches up with the organisation’s board members to discuss what the new-look trade body means for them…
There is a big need to have a strong, focused and knowledgeable trade association that strategically thinks about the future of our industry and also able to react fast to protect it in difficult times.
UKIE already has excellent relationships with all aspects of Government, training and skills organisations, and copyright and IP protection agencies, which is essential in today’s rapidly evolving and changing interactive environment. UKIE will provide all this and an open opportunity for all members large or small, publisher or developer, to be involved in all aspects of our industry as we move into the next phase in the interactive world.
Rob Cooper, UK MD, Ubisoft
UKIE is a group of experienced industry folk whose sole intention is to drive the industry’s agenda
in the best way they can. This industry changes all the time as we know, and we are attracting more and more attention from media, government and the public. This industry has a lot to say and do and we achieve that much better as a group than alone. Keith Ramsdale,
Vice President & General Manager Northern Europe, Electronic Arts
Our industry has experienced huge growth, many changes and, indeed, some challenges over recent years. UKIE
has evolved to better support and promote the myriad of opportunities open to this exciting and vitally important industry sector. SCE UK is very happy to play its part in supporting UKIE and I am personally very proud to serve on the board and to contribute to the process of shaping the future of interactive entertainment in the UK. Andy Barker,
Director of Consumer Services, SCEE
Bigger than music, bigger than box office, bigger than books, the interactive entertainment industry continues to grow but at the same time continues
to change. A strong, forward-thinking trade association that understands and represents the needs of the industry in both development and publishing is vital. An association that influences policy makers on issues such as skills, funding, IP protection, ratings, broadband and media relations. UKIE is that association and Square Enix is delighted to be a corporate member. Ian Livingstone, Life President,
Square Enix Europe
