Premier IT offers free system implementation I n response to the

announcement that the NHS Appraisal Toolkit contract is to expire, Premier IT is offering NHS Trusts the opportunity to trial its PReP system and receive FREE implementation when they purchase it.

Gavin Larner, director of professional standards at the DH, has recently written to all trusts outlining the expiry of the current contract with SCHIN for the NHS Appraisal Toolkit on 31st October 2010.

The letter recommends that in the absence of a centrally supported software tool, trusts may wish to consider their arrangements for the necessary systems at a local level.

The PReP system (Premier IT Revalidation e-Portfolio) has the functionality to address the component parts of medical revalidation such as:

• Strengthened appraisal forms • Personal development plans • Evidence recording • Multi-source feedback • e-Portfolio

This is a single, unified system for all practitioners at a trust who are subject to medical revalidation.

Catering for the needs of all key stakeholders (appraisees, appraisers, managers, responsible officers, trusts and the GMC) PReP is:

• very cost effective • extremely secure

• easily customised to address any local clinical complexity

• a central management information toolkit for responsible officers

Premier IT has already successfully deployed in a number of NHS trusts, medical royal colleges and other healthcare professional bodies, software systems that will bring efficiency savings and quality management to strengthened appraisal and revalidation processes.

In order to assess the suitability of the PReP system, Premier IT is inviting trusts to test a fully functioning evaluation system.

If a trust completes a free evaluation before the end of August 2010 and then signs a

contract to procure the PReP system by 31st October 2010, Premier IT will waive technical implementation fees.

Mark Edmonds, senior account manager at Premier IT says:

“The expiry of the NHS Appraisal Toolkit contract provides trusts with a very good opportunity to assess specific needs and ensure that they implement a system that works for them at a local level.

“This offer will typically save a trust over 50% of its first year’s costs and in these financially tougher times that has to be very good news!”
