WHAT’S NEW Eliminate remote sense wires

Available fromstock, Linear Technology's LT4180 Virtual Remote Sense DC/DC controller eliminates remote sense wires required to compensate for the voltage drop in cables, wires and circuit board trace runs.

Instead, the LT4180 continuously

interrogates line impedance and corrects the regulator’s output voltage. The device maintains a corrected regulated voltage at the load regardless of current or line impedance. The three to 50V input voltage

range address applications including remote instrumentation, battery charging, wall adaptors, notebook power, surveillance equipment and halogen lighting.

Three temperature grades are available: an

extended grade version from-40 to 85°C, an industrial grade version from-40°C to 125°C and amilitary grade option from-55°C to 125°C. The 1,000-piece price starts at $2.95 each.

host and complies to USB 1.1 and 2.0 standards. It has a passive latchmechanism preventing unintentional cable release and a life span of 10,000 cycles. The connector's receptacles and plugs are available in a variety ofmounting and termination configurations enabling it to be used in an array of devices. Micro USB B and A/B type receptacles are available, as well as a B-type plug.

Rutronik now offers a halogen-free ultra-miniature tactile switch fromC&K.Measuring 2.6 by 3.0 by 0.65mm, with a 0.45mmbody, the new top-actuated tactile switch is aimed at space-constrained applications including hearing aids, mobile phones,MP3 accessories and Bluetooth headsets.

Featuring an integrated push plate and a ground pin

option for ESD protection, the SPST NO halogen-free switches are available with gold and silver plating options and actuation force options: 1.6N with a tactile ratio of 30 per cent formobile devices and 1.0N with a tactile ratio of 10 per cent for hearing aids and headsets. Electrical and mechanical life cycles limit is 150,000. An integrated actuator is said to aid simple button design with a tactile ratio of 30 per centminimum, providing sharp feedback. Operating temperature ranges from-40 to 85°C. Actuator height is 0.2mmand travel is 0.13mm.

XP Power has added to its DC/DC converter line-up with the 15W JCM15, housed in a one inch square metal package and the 30WJCK30, available in ametal case that measures two by one inches. These encapsulated PCBmounted converters accommodate a 2:1 input voltage range, accepting either nine to 18, 18 to 36 or 36 to 75V DC, covering the nominal inputs of 12, 24 or 48V DC. Single output models provide 3.3, 5.0, 12 or 15V DC, while the duals offer ±5, ±12 or ±15V DC. All outputs are regulated to within ± 0.5 per cent over all input and load conditions for the single outputmodels and less than ±1.0 per cent for the dual outputs.

JCK30 can operate at full output power from-40 to 50°C, while the JCM15

operates up to 65°C, without derating. With amaximumcase temperature of 105°C, no additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required, making the converters suitable formost operating environments.

Converters feature an input to output and input/output to case isolation of

1,600V DC for up to oneminute. Bothmodels feature a remote on/off control line, which can be used to control the output rails or to sequence start-up procedures. All units feature overvoltage and continuous short circuit protection.
