Compact solution for memory cards
Alps Electric Europe has enhanced its card connector series with an additionalmodel for SDmemory cards andmultimedia-cards. The SCDAAA0600 is a reverse-mount version with a 1.8mmstand-off and dimensions of only 29.1 by 29.3 by 4.7mm.
Thanks to its compact external dimensions and the 1.8mmstand-
off, which enables other components to bemounted under the connector, the SCDAAA0600 is ideal for digital still cameras, digital camcorders, electronic dictionaries, home AV equipment, notebooks and PDAs.
The upper frame features a 4-GND terminal structure, said to
Board-to-board connector specialist, Suyin, offers partially loaded interconnect solutions which can help to reduce cost and weight and respond to safety considerations, such as guarding against spark-over voltages.
For example, according to the DIN EN 60664-5 (VDE 0110-5):
2008-05 standard, clearance and creepage distances must be implemented to provide protection for people and material assets against the effects of electrical voltages or currents or against problems caused by equipment failure.
Automated production is said to offer competitive pricing
and Suyin also offers CAE and CAD support plus prototyping within 14 days.

Hi-rel connector specialist, Harwin, reveals that its Datamate connector systemis being used by Imperial College London’s Imperial Racing Green teamin the Formula Student competition for full-size electric race vehicles.
The teamis using Harwin’s high–
performance twomillimetre pitch Datamate connector in the batterymanagement
systemof its latest electric track vehicle, IRG04, which is entering the 2010 IMechE Formula Student Class 2 (design) competition and will be entering the 2011 Class 1A event as a race-ready track vehicle. The Datamate J-Tek also features jackscrews for additional security.
Teammember, AmitMeghani, explained: More microwave choice
Molex has extended its RF and microwave offering with the acquisition of China-based Zhenjiang Tean Telecom and Appliance, a manufacturer of radio frequency (RF) and microwave products for telecom and base station/wireless markets.
RF marketing and sales manager at
Molex, Roger Kauffman, said: “The Tean acquisition boostsMolex’s share of the developing global market for RF and microwave interconnect systems and gives us a strong presence in the rapidly growing Chinese market. Integrating Tean’s technical expertise and quality

“Our karts reach speeds of 50 to 60mph so the interconnection system must withstand a great deal of vibration. As we travel around the figure-of-eight course the kart will also be subject to forces of up to 3G, so shock performance is vital too.”

provide good characteristics for ESD and noise. The card connector also offers an 8.0mmejection stroke for the storagemedia and a push- pushmechanismfor easy handling duringmemory card insertion and removal.
An operating life of 10,000
insertion/removal cycles is guaranteed with an operating temperature range from -25 to 60°C.
