CONNECTORS
Due to the success of its U.FL series, Hirose has introduced a
new U.FL commodity version of its coaxial plug cable assemblies and receptacle. The range boasts the same characteristics, fit, form and function as the standard U.FL, with some minor adjustments to effect a more cost effective product.
The U.FL ultra miniature coaxial connector range features
mated cable plug and receptacle profiles as low as 2.0mm, rising to 2.5mm maximum, depending on the cable size. The mounting area for the receptacle occupies only 7.7mm², allowing optimum space saving.
Despite being compact and lightweight, the U.FL can handle
transmission speeds of up to 6GHz, which is suitable for a range of miniature devices using wireless communication modules, wireless LAN, GPS and Bluetooth.
Mating and unmating of the connector is simple, with a tactile
click confirming that the connector is fully mated for complete electrical and mechanical connection. The cable mounted plugs use ultra fine fluorinated resin insulated cable to guarantee secure and stable connection. Many different cable diameters and single or double ended cable lengths are available.
Due to the success of the U.FL series, Hirose's new U.FL
commodity version, though essentially the same as the standard U.FL version, ismore cost effective. This is achieved by using tin plating on the outer conductor of the plug cable assembly rather
than the standard silver plating without compromising performance levels.
Cable diameters in
this range are 0.8, 1.0, 1.13, 1.32 and 1.37mmin standard double ended cable lengths of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 300mm. A low cost surface mount receptacle, part number U.FL-R- SMT-1, is available tomate with all plug cable assemblies.
The commodity U.FL uses tin plating, not silver, on the outer conductor of the plug cable assembly
As these three examples highlight, new devices are constantly
arriving on the scene, presenting purchasers with more choice. Perhaps that's why supplier credentials should come top of the buyer's checklist, over and above any technical or price criteria. The right supply partner can help in the search to track down new parts and assess whether they match BoMrequirements.Make sure your suppliers ticks all the right boxes.
