Capitol Day
On February 9th, 2010, over 20 volunteers from across the state gathered in Atlanta for GGIA’s Capitol Day. The annual event in which we deliver plants to of- fices throughout the Capitol has become a favorite for many staffers and legislators alike. In all, over 600 plants were delivered to every Legislative and Execu- tive Branch along with the message that the Green Industry is big business in Georgia. New this year was the decorating of the hall outside our luncheon with plants from Cofer’s Home and Garden Showplace.
The day was highlighted by House and Senate Reso- lutions recognizing the day as GGIA day at the Capi- tol presented by Senator John Bulloch and Represen- tative Tom McCall. Members of the GGIA team were recognized in the Senate gallery as the resolution was read.

This year’s event also gave the members of GGIA the opportunity to publicly recognize members of the leg- islature that have been instrumental in advocating for the industry. Agriculture Chairmen Bulloch and Mc- Call along with GGIA member and Vice-Chair Terry England were each presented with GGIA’s Friend of the Industry Award.

tinguished careers, these legislators have repeatedly demonstrated their appreciation for the green indus- try and worked tirelessly on our behalf. GGIA Chair- person Jenny Law presented the awards in front of a packed conference room during lunch following the delivery of plants.
