Perhaps his most ambitious service to the industry came when Jeff worked to promote the Commodity Commission for Ornamental Horticulture. Early on Jeff adopted the attitude to let the industry decide the issue. Jeff saw it as his responsibility to educate in- dustry members so that they could make an informed decision. A six month series of meetings and town hall sessions followed. While not everyone agreed on the commission, there was no denying Jeff’s dedication to the cause as he cooked burgers and hot dogs across the state before the meetings.
Jeff follows a long line of successful and dedicated winners of the Jake Tinga Award. Like those who came before him, the industry benefits from our re- lationships with these leaders. The good news is we know that Jeff will be around for a while to come.
