recent years and this bill seeks to provide relief for tax payers. This bill requires all property owners to receive written copies of assessments including esti- mated taxes, a right to appeal and increases the appeal period to 45 days.
Texting and cell phone usage saw two bills passed on the last day of the session. SB360 bans texting while driving for all drivers. HB23 bans Class D (teen) driv- ers from using their cell phones while driving. There are indications that the Governor has reservations about signing this bill into law. Time will tell.
Summary
The 2010 session of the General Assembly was never going to be pretty. In the end, legislators involved in the marathon session produced some good measures, avoided many bad ones and tried to make the best out of a very bleak budget situation.
At our very successful Capitol Day event earlier in the session, GGIA presented friends of the industry awards to 3 very deserving legislators, Senate Ag Chairman John Bulloch, House Ag Chairman Tom McCall and GGIA member and House Ag Vice Chair Terry England. GGIA asks that you take the oppor- tunity to thank these folks for looking out for the in- dustry.
