The Association can be compared to the vehicle we own. There are many reasons why the car moves. The main day-to-day reason why our car keeps going is because we put gas into it. Without the gas, the car


Do you ever wonder what you get with your membership dues from the GGIA? In attending tradeshows and chapter meet- ings, I have heard many non- members ask this question. Even as members, I’m sure we ask ourselves the value of the Association when we receive our annual membership state-


just sits idle. I use this analogy because our car is very much like the Association. Without volunteers and without funds, the Association cannot function.


Our voice at the Capitol is like the car radio. Even though the radio can be turned on or off, we are there when the State Representatives and the House Sena- tors turn on the radio. The Legislative requirements are a huge concern of the Association.


There are


many issues at the Capitol that we fight for our indus- try. The Association has one individual that serves as our lobbyist and as the Director of Environmental and Public Affairs, Chris Butts. Many days are spent at the Capitol representing the interests of the Green Industry.


Some of the concerns this year included budget constraints and the fear of cuts to programs
