awards

Congratulations to Jeff Beasley and Becki van der Walt on receiving the Jake Tinga Distinguished Professional awards! Below is more information about these two exceptional people that gives insight to why they are, as their alloted title clearly states, distinguished professionals.

Jeff Beasley: Distinguished Professional

Ask most folks who know Jeff Beasley to de- scribe him and you’ll likely re- ceive an answer

that goes something like this, “Jeff has a unique way of looking at things”. Fortunately for Jeff, his busi- ness, his friends and his family, that unique perspec- tive on life produces solid results.

His family is tight knit. His business partnerships are long lasting and his dedication to the industry he loves is second to none. His company, Transplant Nursery is noted for the hybridizing of eastern native deciduous azaleas. But after marrying his high-school sweetheart, the former Lisa Carson, Jeff swears that his two best crosses are his daughters, Camilla and Kelsey. Both graduated from the University of Georgia and Camilla will begin the prestigious Physician’s Assistant Pro- gram at the Medical College of Georgia in May.

Much like his marriage, Transplant Nursery is a true family affair. Jeff’s partnership with Lisa is the key to their success. A quick ride through the nursery or a

Rhododendron, Kalmia and Pieris are not the easiest plants in the industry to grow. Transplant’s mastery of these plants along with other unique companion plants provides their customers with a product blend that is unequaled in Georgia. Always modest, when asked what enables the nursery to produce such quality ma- terial, Jeff shrugs off the credit. That’s just Jeff.

In recent years, Jeff partnered with legendary plants- man, Dr. Michael Dirr and Mark Griffith to form Plant Introductions Inc. The firm is dedicated to plant devel- opment, hybridization and genetics. With the energy from this threesome gathered together, many new and exciting introductions are sure to come.

An important measure of Jeff’s success is his desire to leave the nursery and the industry in better shape than he found it. He looks forward to the day when son in law Gatlin Correia and daughter Camilla mov- ing back and becoming an integral part of the nursery. Jeff has also dedicated countless hours to industry as- sociations serving as a board member with GGIA and
