8 NEWS HTA picks The Fuelcard People
The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) has appointed The Fuelcard People as its first ever strategic fuel cards partner. It brings HTA members help in reducing and controlling vehicle running costs. Paul Basham, HTA director of finance and administration, said:
“The obvious benefit
comes from cutting fuel costs and administrative workloads, but that is just the start. A fuel card should offer more than just discount fuel and The Fuelcard People offers HTA members the perfect combination of savings and service.” HTA members can enjoy
fixed weekly pricing for diesel, petrol or both. This typically saves 2p to 3p per litre on national average pump prices, more than 10p per litre on motorway prices, and applies nationwide. A single weekly invoice allows up to two weeks of free credit before direct debit payment.

Tailor made for the course The RotaDairon ED130 TS is
two machines in one, both a de- thatcher and a spiking machine and it’s nickname of the ‘Turf Surgeon’ indicates the precision with which the machine can operate from 0mm to 60mm depth.Blades are interchangeable and can be replaced or their pattern altered in minutes thanks to a rotor consisting of a series of support discs each of which can take up to six blades. Marc Denoueix of the
company commented “the
machine can be used on golf greens to achieve fine verticuts and also on the tees or fairways for de-thatching and thatch removal” Tim Merrell of The Grass
Group said “the ED130 is the perfect machine for larger courses where constant play is an issue. It also makes an ideal contractor machine”

The 14,000 sq ft Rockliffe
Hall Golf Course, Club House has had Alumasc's Zinco green roof installed with a variety of wild grasses to complement the natural-timber profile of the clubhouse facade. British Seed Houses has developed the A29 Eco-Green Roof mixture mainly based on AberAce and AberFleece cultivars bred by the BSH funded amenity seed breeding program, IBERS (Aberystwyth). After almost 30 years in consistent use,
a bold
transformation to dramatically improve the customer experience and environmental credentials of the landmark Terminal 1 Multi Storey Car Park has been unveiled. Kingfisher Lighting were approached to provide a challenging lighting solution, involving illuminating the external lighting of the top deck split level car park utilising LED products. Given the design brief and timeline involved, the Kingfisher team of lighting designers presented a design proposal based on the ILO LED utilising a combination of twin and triple
mounted lighting points. ILO LED is an architecturally
inspired luminaire designed for the urban environment benefiting from the latest LED technology. Available with four LED arrangements (36 LED, 54 LED, 72 LED and 90 LED), ILO offers a practical level of light output with a lamp lumen range of 3235lm to 8088lm with colour temperature at a cool 6000° K. Expected life is estimated at 60,000 hours based on 80% maintenance factor. In practical terms this is approximately 12 years. The low profile, flat glass
design ensures zero upward light and tight containment of overspill, whilst the Comfort Light Optic
Greens, Tees & Roofs at Rockliffe
ensures minimal glare to
onlookers. The lighting scheme involved a combination of twin and triple mounted ILO LED’s with a mounting height of 6m. To achieve the lighting specification of 20 lux average, the lighting team designed with the ILO LED 54 ST series. This specification utilises 54 LEDs with a total rated power of 68w and a lumen output of 4853 lumens and provides a street lighting distribution. Compared with a conventional 70w light source this particular version offers energy savings of up to 16%!

BSH A29 Eco-Green Roof is
designed for the seeding of all green roofs where a low nutrient grass cover is required. The high, fibrous root system created from this mixture offers soil stabilisation and acts as an excellent carbon sink. The seed can be planted in 150mm of soil and can be trimmed as little as once a year, if at all.
