Canada's largest thened waterpark

Calypso coming to Ottawa

Set to open on June 7, Calypso Waterpark is Canada’s largest themed waterpark. Sitting on a 100-acre site 20 minutes from Ottawa, Ontario, the facility has been developed by the Villages Vacances Valcartier Group and is is filled with signature attractions from WhiteWater West. Canada’s first Family Boomerango will take guests vertical as they shoot up a wall, then pause before falling back down and over a transition hump into a splashdown pool below. This raft ride is ideal for groups and families riding together, as is the Family Raft Ride, another feature ride in the park. Bathers will experience high thrills sliding down the waterpark’s speed slides, SpaceBowl and Superbowl, or competing against friends on the eight-lane mat

racer. There’s lots of fun for young guests too, including two mini slides, an enclosed body slide and a ramp slide. All of these attractions surround a RainFortress multi-level play structure, the largest of its kind in Canada. In total there are more almost 200 interactive features. Guests can also float around inside the country’s biggest wave pool, as big as three hockey rinks. Two international standard beach volleyball courts are offered together with landscaped areas and nearly 4,000 sunbathers. At the Hawaiian Beach Bar, guests can enjoy plenty of refreshments plus a live tropical band. The total investment is more than $45 million, including a $2 million contribution from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. During the peak season, there will be more than 500 employees, including 125 lifeguards.

Exploration Space

The fifth collaboration between NASA, the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and BRC Imagination Arts has opened its doors to the public.

Exploration Space is the first attraction at the KSC Visitor Complex to examine the near future of space exploration. Given the imminent retirement of the

Space Shuttle, its introduction could not be more timely. From new spacecraft concepts to a life-sized Lunar Electric Rover and the latest spacesuit technology, explorers of all ages get a glimpse into the future of space travel, today. Exploration Space features large-scale digital projections, dimensional exhibits and immersive experiences. The main show, Explorers Wanted, runs approximately twice an hour, transforming the entire space into a live theatre environment with a compelling message. Five 15ft (5-metre) projection surfaces tell a realistic story, including routes to various destinations, and details of exploring, living and working in space. A mock-up of future spacecraft includes the front half of a full-sized Lunar Electric Rover, among other vehicles in development. One of Florida’s most popular destinations with more than 1.5 annual guests, the KSC Visitor Complex includes activities and tours venturing deep into NASA’s spaceport facilities, daily Astronaut Encounters, towering rockets, IMAX space films and the US Astronaut Hall of Fame.
