when I got together with Rob I found someone who was like-minded and we just hit it off immediately.
We have had a cracking week at a truly wonderful resort and I’ll remember this for a very long time.”
Partner Rob added: “Qualifying for the fi nal in Mauritius was really the ultimate prize when you see the fantastic resort where we have stayed, but to win the fi nal was wonderful. A fantastic bonus.” Scottish pair Ian Hart and Fred Douglas carded a very respectable 44 points on day one but their lead was eroded over the following two days by the eventual winners. Two other pairs, the Temperley father-and-son duo James and James Junior and Michael Hurley and Bryan Walsh put up fi ne displays and all had chances to win. At the end of the fi nal round they were tied on 161 points and the Temperleys took the runners-up spot on count back, just eight points adrift of eventual winners Jones and
Maund. T e top three pairs each collected
their trophies at a splendid presentation evening at the Chateau du Golf and several of the players later took advantage of an invitation to test their skills on the island’s Ernie Els designed course at the Anahita Golf Resort - their broad smiles told the story of that truly amazing excursion! As for the golf base for the fi nal week, Heritage Le Telfair, with its range of restaurants, superb private beaches, watersports, high-end spa facility and the absolute beauty of the Citronniers River running through the tropical garden grounds, was simply fi rst class. A week that will truly linger in the golfi ng memory...
For 2010, we will be running the same competition format in partnership with the Daily Express and Heritage Le Telfair Golf and Spa Resort. Details of dates, tournament venues and rules of entry are posted on www.golff
