programme is the introduction of the summer matchplay competition which is open to all club golfers with a valid and CONGU affi liated handicap.

T e idea behind the matchplay competition is to allow players to compete in our competitions even when the club has failed or refused to register for an event.

T is competition format is the purest form of golf, doubles knockout! T e competition rules allow you to enter as a pair representing your home club or you can even enter with a friend from another golf club. Its a great opportunity to play alongside friends in a competitive format or you can even use the event to entertain corporate clients and business contacts, who will appreciate the competitive, fun, professional tournament experience.

T ere is still time to enter for the 2010 knockout event which will be played over a series of four knockout rounds in regions across the UK between May and August this year and it is open to all UK

club golfers. T e winners from each region will then progress to compete in a FREE regional fi nal to hopefully secure a place at the UK Grand Final at De Vere Wychwood Park in September. Ross Honey, managing director of International Pairs, said: “Doubles knockout is the most exciting competition format of all in golf and we’re thrilled to be able to off er this additional tournament format as way of getting involved in International Pairs events.”

T e number of golf clubs

participating is growing year after year but it became clear to us all that there were still too many club golfers prevented from entering and competing because their clubs could not satisfy the entry criteria or the players themselves simply missed out on qualifi cation at their home club. As Ross made clear, “International Pairs’ off ers every club golfer an incredible golfi ng experience and this summer matchplay event provides an extra chance to compete”

Working alongside the traditional International Pairs club competition, the summer knockout costs just £30 per pair, to enter and the remaining places for this year’s exciting summer competition are now limited so please enter online today.

T e competition format is a knockout betterball stableford, over 18 holes, with the fi rst round commencing in May. Each round must be completed by the specifi ed date and the fi nal winning pairs will all qualify to compete in one of six FREE regional fi nals which will include overnight accommodation, a welcome reception and a competition round of golf on a championship course. T e top three pairs from each regional fi nal will then progress to the UK fi nal at De Vere Wychwood Park in September for the chance to qualify for the 2010 International Pairs, World Final - which will be held at the stunning Carrick on Loch Lomond resort in Scotland in October. Ross Honey added: “T ere are around 1.5 million registered golfers in the UK and we wanted to design a qualifi cation format that gives everyone a chance to enter and compete.”

International Pairs has always been a tournament open to every club golfer and we want that philosophy to continue in the years to come as the brand and competition format grows.”
