Also forming part of the exhibit on the

Whitewater booth at the IAAPA event was the AquaLoop attraction, introduced at the previous year’s show. No less than 20 examples of the ride have been sold in its first year.

Major projects for Huss

SEVERAL major installations from German manufacturer Huss Park Attractions are due for completion in 2010. Among these is a 120m high Sky Tower which will

open in Changzhou, China, later in the year. Featuring single curvature glass from top to bottom of the passenger section, the tower will have a total height 10m higher than the company’s previous tower, with riders being taken to 83m as opposed to 70m. The same group will also be taking a Huss King

Kong ride, the third to be built, to its Changzhou Dino Park in 2010. Additionally, a Huss movie base attraction was due

to open to the public at Happy Valley Zheng Zheng at around Christmas time, while another OCT owned venue, Windows of the World, is due to open a similar attraction in the spring. “Most companies in the industry seem not too

affected by the economic crisis,” commented Huss vice-president and director of sales, Michael Hesse. “I don’t hear any complaining about the situation like you do in other industries. But we have been through similar situations before of course.”

a Puppy Love dog theme following on from previous canoe and aeroplane themes, while another recent addition to the product range has been the Airborne Shot, a circular ride featuring eight free swinging arms affixed to a central pillar. Seating is in twos on the end of each arm and as the ride begins, the arms swing outwards. A joystick style control enables riders to make the arms go higher when in manual mode, while an auto programme is also featured.

Fabbri extends product offer

A NEW attraction aimed at children but which adults can ride too has been introduced by Italian company Fabbri Group. The Daytona ride is part of a new series of indoor

rides and allows youngsters to actually steer a vehicle while it remains attached to one of several arms. As the arms rotate around a central column, they are also able to extend and retract depending on the direction the vehicle is steered in (right or left), thus moving in an out as the ride progresses. The standard version of the ride features eight, two-seater cars, while the surface plate they run on can be flat or slightly inclined in places. Different surfaces can also be simulated. The first version of the Daytona was in production

SBF/Visa add to range

NEW on the booth of SBF/Visa Group from Italy was the Drop & Twist tower ride which is a development of the Drop Zone tower and received a good reception at the IAAPA event. Several versions of the new attraction are already on

order and the first model, a 30m high version, was due to go to the UK. “It is the first such ride with all three movements –

jumping, turning and freefall,” explained Augusto de Santi. “And it can also stop and just turn around, either clockwise or anti-clockwise.” Other versions of the ride are due to be sent to the US and the Middle East. A new development of the popular mini Pirate Ship was also being shown at IAAPA, this time with

at the time of writing and was due to go to a carnival operator in the US. Both travelling and park models are available. Also new to the Fabbri product range is the Mad

Seats, based on the traditional Tagada ride but with the floor plate effectively removed. Indoor and outdoor versions of the eight or 16 seater ride will be offered and the first one is due to debut in Asia. Yet more new developments include a newly

designed gondola for the Aer-O-Loop to offer a 16-seat, double Aer-O-Loop, three versions of this ride now being available, while a smaller version of the Dragon Fly has also been added to the range. A new midi Top Swing for indoor use and up to 8m in height is a further addition. The company’s Giant Wheels division also

continues to progress, with an 85m model now completed in Taiwan. This is Fabbri’s first such attraction and is installed on top of a shopping mall,

Street Fighter Revolution unveiled

A NEW version of the Street Fighter ride, the Street Fighter Revolution, has been introduced by Italian company Technical Park. Featuring the same structure and capacity (16

seats) as the original ride, thus allowing existing owners to change their current machine to the new model, the Revolution is part of the company’s new generation of “extreme spinners” and takes riders through a full 360 degree loop with complete

US based S & S Worldwide enjoyed a successful IAAPA Attractions Expo, topped off by the company winning the first place award in the Major Theme/ Amusement Park Ride/Attraction category for its Free Fly roller coaster. A vehicle and section of track from the ride dominated the company’s booth. “We are doing several projects in China at the

moment,” said Kevin Rohwer, vice-president of sales, “including two launch coasters and two towers for 2010. We are also working on additional coaster opportunities around the world.” And he continued: “Generally, China has fared

well over this year, better than the US and Europe due to having less debt. I hope the dollar rate changes to improve things too. I heard there was good weather in Europe so that helped things there. “The Free Fly helped create a 21 per cent increase

in numbers at Skara Sommarland this season despite poor weather in Sweden, so overall we are looking optimistically at the future.” Page 1  |  Page 2  |  Page 3  |  Page 4  |  Page 5  |  Page 6  |  Page 7  |  Page 8  |  Page 9  |  Page 10  |  Page 11  |  Page 12  |  Page 13  |  Page 14  |  Page 15  |  Page 16  |  Page 17  |  Page 18  |  Page 19  |  Page 20  |  Page 21  |  Page 22  |  Page 23  |  Page 24  |  Page 25  |  Page 26  |  Page 27  |  Page 28  |  Page 29  |  Page 30  |  Page 31  |  Page 32  |  Page 33  |  Page 34  |  Page 35  |  Page 36  |  Page 37  |  Page 38  |  Page 39  |  Page 40  |  Page 41  |  Page 42  |  Page 43  |  Page 44
