Sandy’s Circle

s

THE THIRD INSTALLMENT

of the NCGA Foundation Sandy’s Circle will be held on the Monterey Peninsula in June before the U.S. Open. Past events have in-

cluded an opportunity for participants to play golf and listen to stories with two of the game’s biggest names— Sandy Tatum and Tom Watson. The format pres- ents an intimate feel with donors enjoying a round of golf and participation in a panel discussion. Former special guests

have included comedian George Lopez, Golf Di-

Tatum

gest’s Jaime Diaz, golf profession- als Morris Hatalsky and Joel Kribel and Stanford Men’s Golf

Coach Conrad Ray. Panel discussion will include big-name golf and non-golf celebrities. Watson and Tatum are

no strangers to success. From the mid ‘70s through the early ‘80s, Watson was the gold standard of golf and arguably the best cham- pion the British Open has ever seen. The hall-of-fame

golfer is best known for his phenomenal chip-in on the 71st hole en route to victory at the 1982 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach as well as his near-win as a 59-year-old at the 2009 British Open at Turnberry. Another Stanford

graduate, Tatum played on the back-to-back Stanford National Championship Teams and was the NCAA Individual Champion in 1942. The Cardinal Hall of Famer has a storied ca- reer including serving as the USGA President and various design and golf course development

projects in Northern California.

The 2009 event raised

more than $100,000 for the NCGA Foundation and its Youth on Course (YOC) program. The NCGA Foundation provides deserv- ing youth the opportunity to develop life skills and val- ues through golf and YOC allows juniors the oppor- tunity to play golf courses for $5 or less while putting to use training from their YOC certified program. Interested donors should contact Adam Heieck at the NCGA Foundation by calling 831/625-4653.
