Joining the Army and Navy Club

The Army and Navy Club (ANC) is a private, nonprofit club in the heart of Washington, D.C. Membership comprises active duty and former military personnel from all branches of the armed forces, along with civilian members. Who can join: Regular membership is open to currently serving

or former officers of all branches of the armed forces. The ANC also offers a limited number of associate memberships to those either as- sociated with the military profession or prominent in the community. Special membership categories include foreign service officers and former members’ widows and widowers. Dues: Monthly dues range from $20 a month for newly commis-

sioned officers to $110 a month for resident associate members. Resident members (who live or work within 30 miles of the club) have a $75-a-quarter minimum charge for food and beverages. The club charges an initiation fee to join. This fee ranges from $200 to $1,500, based on mem- bership category. Initiation fees are waived for newly commissioned officers. Benefits: Members have exclusive access

to the ANC’s dining, hotel, and athletic fa- cilities. The ANC property includes 29 hotel rooms, two dining areas, two bars, several banquet rooms, and athletic facilities. The library holds the largest private collection of military books and art in the nation. Members also have access to more than 200 reciprocal private clubs worldwide.
