This course is an introduction to health careers, workplace basic skills and job search skills
ROP
and will provide students with the basic knowledge to be successful in completing other
professional medical training. Students will learn basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
for one person, two people, child, infant, obstructed airway, and mouth-to-mask ventilation
based on American Hart Association Standards. Students will study and learn the applica-
tion of emergency medical skills and procedures, including basic anatomy and physiology,
terminology, and prevention of disease transmission. Students will learn basic medical
terms with emphasis on word analysis and construction. Students will receive information
on the variety of health care careers and conduct a job search for a career which they may
choose to pursue. Instruction covers the following areas: medical terminology, anatomy
and physiology, emergency response, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, blood and
lymph systems, and more. Approximately 180 hours are needed to complete this course.

Training for entry-level administrative / receptionist positions in medical offices and health
care facilities. Instruction covers, but is not limited to: preparation and maintenance of com-
puterized medical records, computer concepts for medical and health care facilities, applied
medical terminology, medical transcription, proper conduct, importance of confidentiality,
medical insurance billing and coding, CPT and ICD coding, HCPCS, & PDR Research, HIPPA
regulations, reading and writing prescriptions and proper use of office equipment.
Pre-requisite: Satisfactory completion of a reading and math assessment. The
call-in date to schedule the testing is May 3, 2010 at 9:00 Am. Test is limited to
the first 40 callers; 30 for the class and 10 alternates. Students cannot take
M. A. Admin. and M.A. Clinical at the same time. 18 wks Registration process-
