The San Diego County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is
a tuition-free, career preparation program that offers training to
high school students. Adults may access some of these classes on a
tuition basis. ROP students are prepared to meet current business
and industry needs and standards.
ROP
All ROP classes, unless otherwise stated, are considered open entry
/ open exit programs which means the classes are on-going. Students
can enter the class at any time provided space is available, and exit
the class at any time upon completion of learning goals.

Animal Science

VeteRinaRy assistant i 8/30-1/21/2011

**F Lab - as scheduled
Provides entry-level job skills for the animal care industry. Instruction includes anatomy and
physiology, infectious diseases, handling and restraint, medical math, medical terminology,
surgical preparation and techniques, safety and other topics. Potential students should have
an interest in a career that involves working with animals. Students complete a minimum of
100 hours of on-the-job experience at a community classroom site. 19 wks

M W 6–9 pm SPHS- Ag Bldg. Rm 701 Jovanovic
**F Lab - as scheduled
Provides additional entry-level job skills for the animal care industry. Instruction includes
radiology, anesthesia, hematology, urinalysis, dentistry, lab animals, equine avian, reptiles,
pharmacology, parasitology and more. Potential students should have an interest in a career
that involves working with animals. Students complete a minimum of 100 hours of on-the-job
experience at a community classroom site. 19 wks Registration processing fee TBA
** Both classes have 5 labs per semester per class, consisting of field trips to
the Wild Animal Park, animal hospitals and in-class labs on blood, urine and
parasites.
