Verónica Volani-Inza knew from an early age that her creative talent
would be her livelihood. Her childhood passion for drawing evolved
into an academic focus on art and architecture in school. As her talent
for sketching developed, she found herself gravitating toward archi-
tecture and interior design. Upon arriving in the U.S. from Venezu-
ela with her family, Volani-Inza began ardently pursuing a career in
interior design. Now as a licensed interior designer and professional
C
member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), she
has been servicing the interior design needs of Palm Beach County,
Florida, for more than 10 years.
For the last five years, Volani-Inza has been lending her unique ap-
proach to interior design as part of Smith And Moore Architects, Inc.
in West Palm Beach, Florida, a firm offering clients services includ-
ing planning, architecture and interior design. Recently one of Volani-
Inza’s completed projects awarded her the title of DTM’s first ever
Design Trade Superstar. DTM hosted the “Give Us Your Best Shot”
competition on our Facebook page, inviting designers to submit pho-
tos of their best residential projects. Volani-Inza’s design for a guest
bedroom at a Palm Beach residence earned her 459 votes and first-
place victory in the competition.
The concept behind the design of the guest bedroom was fairly sim-
ple. Volani-Inza’s clients desired a tranquil environment where guests
could unwind and enjoy their stay. She immediately saw the space
as having the “potential to become a relaxing spa-like atmosphere.”
Drawing inspiration from the fifth-floor ocean view as a starting point
for the design, she combined blues, whites and the natural tones of the
bamboo flooring to emanate the air, sea and sky.
The centerpiece of the room is the California king-size bed from
Vanguard Furniture. The headboard, upholstered in suede by Bart
Halpern from Jeffrey Michaels & Co., features an Oxford finish and
nickel nail-head trim. The quilted coverlet was custom-made by My
New Old Chair with fabric from Stroheim & Romann. The Palmetto
Bench from Kravet, located at the foot of the bed, features chrome
legs and leather from Barbara Barry. Another highlight of the room
is the motorized Silhouette window shades by Hunter Douglas from
Windows of the World. Volani-Inza gave the room a touch of eclectic www
flair by adding the bovine pelt area rug from ABC Carpet & Home.
Volani-Inza seamlessly transformed the guest room of her clients’

condominium into a stunning space of comfort and luxury. She is cur-
rently hard at work on her next project, an oceanfront home renova-
tion in northern Palm Beach. She reveals, “It’s an update from a Ma-
rio Fatio (Palm Beach architectural pioneer) home to a Balinese style
with eclectic, modern interiors and furnishings.”
