On the Set
rated as a talent agency, is really an architectural firm. The common
space furniture was perfect and we added our art and flowers, but the
three offices and assistant areas were completely re-dressed. The man-
sion this season is also home to a family of five. They loved our décor
and when it came time to move out, they wanted a lot of our dressing.
Originally, the boys of “Entourage” lived together. How difficult
was it to create a unique identity for Johnny Drama’s apartment?
It was really fun to decorate his space. Who else would have Nagel
prints and an Environment Furniture dining table? That condominium
was occupied by the owner and later tenants, who were single guys
and loved living with our dressing.
Of all the locations, which one was your favorite to decorate?
My favorite decorating experience was creating the Colombian vil-
lage for “Medellín,” a fictional movie about the life of Pablo Esco-
bar that Vincent Chase starred in during the fourth season. It was a
decorating dream. We researched, shopped and created an entire town,
inside and out, including an outdoor food market with authentic Co-
lombian food. We had three weeks to prep and four days to dress out
in Canyon Country, located just outside of Santa Clarita, California,
at the Veluzat Ranch.
What are the biggest challenges on a show like “Entourage”?
You really need to multitask and be organized to keep up with the
pace. Having a strong support system is imperative. My shopper Deb-
orah Toms is invaluable to me, as is my lead David Loitz and my great
crew — Shane, Joe, Brad and Johnny. The entire crew of “Entourage”
is great to work with.
What are some of your favorite resources for finding materials?
I shop all over, from the Pacific Design Center to Target to the tini-
est thrift store. I go downtown to the fabric district, but also use Dia-
mond Foam & Fabric and F&S Fabrics. The mansion this season had a
lot of rented furniture from Charles & Charles and I purchased the rest
from H.D. Buttercup, Jaxon Home, Loft Appeal and Oasis Imports.
What advice would you offer to someone trying to become a
sucessful set decorator.
It’s a dream job as long as you realize you will decorate an entire
room and probably never see any of it. It’s about the actors and writ-
ing, but you get them in the mood by creating their environment. It’s
exhilarating and challenging. I can’t imagine a better job.
