Excellence that Inspires;
Work that Motivates
ost of us, at some point in our lives, have been
M
inspired by a special person or have found inspir-
ation in something we have heard, read, or
observed. Over the years, my own moments of inspiration
have helped guide my life in many positive ways.
As the president of Eastern Connecticut State University, I find inspiration
each day among this campus’s community of learners. Students, faculty, staff
and alumni alike set lofty goals and then work diligently to achieve them.
Professors infuse energy and motivation into their students by encouraging
them to discover new possibilities, or by challenging them to engage familiar
topics from different perspectives. Students inspire our campus community
with their enthusiasm for learning, their commitment to improve this world,
and their desire to join the global community as productive citizens.
Eastern has a long tradition of excellence that dates back to 1889, yet today
we have our sights directly on the future. In this view book, you will learn
what motivates our students to excel. Read their stories. Think about what
inspires you. And then think about Eastern and its legacy of inspiration. We
want Eastern to be in your future!
