Eastern Connecticut State University is:
Conveniently Located. Our 182-acre campus is in Willimantic, Connecticut, a historic
community 30 minutes from Hartford, 45 minutes from Providence, Rhode Island, and
midway between Boston and New York.
Public. Founded in 1889, we provide a challenging, relevant liberal arts education to
prepare you for a career and for life.
Growing. With modern residence halls, a unique child and family development resource
center, expanded student center and award-winning library, the campus has grown
significantly in the past five years. Our LEED-certified science building opened in fall
2008, and a new fine arts center is in the planning stages.
A Comfortable Size. Eastern’s total enrollment, including part-time and graduate
students, is about 5,400. Eastern is predominately an undergraduate degree-granting
institution enrolling more than 4,200 full-time undergraduate students who are focused
on graduating in four years.
Diverse. Our students come from all over the United States and from more than 40
other countries. Students of color represent 15 percent of Eastern’s undergraduates, and
professors of color account for 26 percent of our full-time faculty.
Personal. Our average class size is 24 students; our student-faculty ratio is 16:1.
Professional. Ninety-two percent of our professors hold terminal degrees, and 70 per-
cent of all classes are taught by full-time faculty.
Active. We have approximately 65 student clubs and intramural organizations, plus 17
varsity team sports (NCAA, Eastern College Athletic Conference, Little East Conference).
Successful. Our job placement rate for recent graduates is 92 percent.
