A Well-Rounded Education.
A Wealth of Experiences.
A
liberal arts education is grounded on exposing students to cultural and life experi-
ences beyond the classroom. Eastern hosts a variety of cultural and intellectual
experiences, guest speakers, concerts, movie nights and special events — more
than 650 a year.
The Arts and Lecture Series has hosted poet and author Maya Angelou, historian
David McCullough, TV personality “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” author Cornel West, the
Spanish Harlem Orchestra, ocean explorer Robert Ballard, ESPN sportscaster Linda Cohn
and many others.
The Campus Activity Board arranges numerous out-of-town trips, including
shopping and theater excursions to New York City and Boston, and hiking and river-rafting
trips, to name a few.
Willimantic is surrounded by great spots for fishing, hiking, skiing and other
outdoor sports, and is only 45 minutes from the ocean.
Clubs and Activities
There are more than 65 clubs and organizations on campus, and one of them is bound to
pique your interest. Or start a new club or activity!
