Living Well
T. Bennett
The Art of Trying Something New.
We are all creatures of habit. And for some, that
habit groove we have created feels like it's
written in stone. I’m one of those people who’s
working harder at being open and being less
resistant to what is not so familiar and be more
experimental.
There are two characters from the television
series, As Time Goes By who truly capture the
freeness of spirit that I am speaking of; Madge
and Rocky. They rock-on and give it a whirl full
heartedly still, white water rafting in their mid-
eighties. The bottom line is they couldn't care
less what others people think about them and
fear isn't even a thought.
The truth is- the first step is the hardest.
Honestly though, it probably shouldn't take me
thirty years to try yogurt! It is getting easier with
some self-coaching. The thought form that I use
as my training wheels when faced with newness
that I can't seem to embrace is; this is just a test
run and doesn't have to be permanent.
That sentiment probably doesn't apply to
jumping out of an airplane. Darn. The path of
least resistance is still about making good
choices for yourself. You don’t need to drop
20,000 feet from the sky to be a free spirited
person. But if trying a new kind of food, it works.
Rock On!
