Good Samaritans In Christ’s name, they’re there when you need them.
tives think of gift boxes at Christmas and interna- tional crisis response. But Samaritan’s Purse maintains a broad range of charitable endeavors and ministries, including:
S
Children’s Heart Project For over a quarter of a century, the Children’s Heart Project has been facilitating critical cardiac surgery for thousands of boys and girls in dozens of countries. “We pray for physical
healing,” remarks Rev. Franklin Graham, “and most importantly, we pray that God will use our efforts to heal hearts for eternity through the Gos- pel of Jesus Christ.”
Operation Christmas Child Each year, thousands of churches around the country collect gift shoe-
ay the words “Samaritan’s Purse” and many social conserva-
boxes at Christmas stuffed with presents. Samari- tan’s Purse collects the gift boxes and distributes them to children in over 100 countries worldwide. Recipients receive “The
Greatest Gift” booklet on the Gospel story, and are invited to take a 12-lesson discipleship class, “The Greatest Journey,” led by local pastors, focused on Jesus and the Gospel. To date, over 209 million gift boxes have been delivered.
Operation Heal Our Patriots Every war has its casual- ties — including mar- riages. PTSD, trauma, separation — all these and more have caused an epidemic of broken mar- riages among the brave American veterans who defend our freedom. Since 2012, Samari-
tan’s Purse has hosted nearly 2,000 couples at Samaritan Lodge Alaska for Bible-based marriage
counseling specifically designed to heal veterans’ relationships with their families. One highlight: close to a thousand chap- lain-conducted baptisms in nearby Lake Clark.
The Greta Home and Academy In 2010, an earthquake destroyed an orphanage and school in the Leogane community in Haiti. In its place, Samari-
tan’s Purse rebuilt it, complete with six dormi- tory-style bedrooms, seven classrooms, a media cen- ter, nurse’s station, cafete- ria, and outdoor play area. And they named it after Newsmax anchor Greta Van Susteren, whose advo- cacy for Haitians during a 2010 cholera outbreak bolstered a recovery effort that saved countless lives.
U.S. Disaster Relief Its North American Ministries marshals thou- sands of volunteers who
are poised to help commu- nities struck by disaster, including hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and more.
BGEA chaplains pray with the victims while workers rebuild the homes of local residents who’ve lost everything. Ongoing recovery efforts now un- derway include repairing communities struck by storms in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
World Medical Mission Doctors, dentists, and surgeons often find mis- sion trips abroad the most rewarding work of their entire careers. World Medical Mission coordi- nates with hospitals and clinics around the world to offer short-term trips abroad.
By sharing their medi-
cal expertise and caring for local patients, these volunteer medical profes- sionals at the top of their fields help local healthcare officials who are some- times overwhelmed.
