Richard Ansett: No Place Like Home Elysium Gallery, Swansea, until Sat 20 Nov. Admission: FREE. Info: 07980 925449 / elysiumgallery.com

As a portrait photographer, Richard Ansett’s work is rarely if ever lacking a point, even when capturing public figures such as Grayson Perry and Stephen Hawking. More often, he focuses on private citizens from a remarkable angle, such as young survivors of Grenfell and the Manchester Arena bombing. No Place Like Home comprises portraits from 2020 and ’21, where subjects may be scarred, sickly or otherwise downtrodden, but present their vulnerability with stoic defiance.
