ABERTOIR FILM FESTIVAL 2021

Wales’ annual international horror film festival returns this year, like so many pandemic-adjacent events, in hybrid form as a physical and virtual event. Almost 40 as-of-yet unreleased films are set to be screened, including Titane, the hungrily anticipated follow-up to 2016’s cannibalistic French shocker Raw, while Welsh language film Gwledd/The Feast (equally tasty-sounding) will open proceedings.

Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Tues 2-Sun 7 Nov, then online Fri 12-Sun 14 Nov. Tickets: £60 in-person / £25 online. Info: abertoir.co.uk

SPONTANEOUS SHERLOCK

Here’s a show at Cardiff’s Glee Club where you can shout things from the audience with no danger of being asked to leave, unless you shout something especially unpleasant maybe. That’s because it’s a comedy improv show, where a play will manifest based on ticketholders’ suggestions. Said play will have a Sherlock Holmes theme, as per the title, and if you caught the actors’ previous touring show, Spontaneous Potter, it’s basically the same deal.

Glee Club, Cardiff Bay, Mon 15 Nov. Tickets: £10. Info: glee.co.uk/cardiff

TŶ PAWB RECORD FAIR

Record fairs have soldiered through the hard times when vinyl was a flatlining listening format, and since it got ‘cool’ again (for now) they’ve had to soldier through the coronavirus too. But the 30 dealers who’re bringing their stalls to cool Wrexham art venue Tŷ Pawb are leaning into it! Go get dusty fingers there all day in pursuit of rare funk, soul, jazz (etc) wax.

Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham, Sat 27 Nov. Admission: FREE. Info: typawb.wales

LUMINATE NIGHT WALK

Margam County Park! One of the jewels in the crown of the south Wales countryside, made to glitter still more intensely when Luminate Wales turned a mile-long stretch of its grounds into a light trail in the run-up to Christmas 2019. And for the following Christmas – 2021 – they’ve returned to Margam with a rejigged version of their electrical dazzler. Hooray!

Margam County Park, nr Port Talbot, Thurs 18 Nov-Fri 24 Dec. Tickets: £11-£17. Info: luminate.live
