This chamber opera premieres in April, as part of the Milton Keynes International Festival, before its two-night run in Cardiff, but can be seen as a preview of the (expected) great work its writer, Errollyn Wallen, will do between now and 2024 in her role as Artist In Residence at the RWCMD. The Paradis Files is named after its protagonist, Maria-Theresia von Paradis: a pianist in 18th century Austria, wildly successful despite her blindness. The latter aspect is not inserted blithely, it should be noted, with BSL, captioning and audio description included in each show.
