STORYTIME WITH SETH ROGEN Earwolf (60 min episodes)
Comic actor turned ceramicist Seth Rogen puts the whole premise in the title here: each week, a different guest – sometimes but not always a fellow funny person – tells an interesting story. And that’s about it, except that their account is illustrated by eyewitness interviews and other types of audio documentation of what they’re describing as they go, creating something between documentary and narration. The most sensationalist so far has been Colin Dowler, who staved off a grizzly bear with a pocket knife.

Rebuidling Star Wars,
DUNGEONS & DADDIES Acast Network (60-120 min episodes) If you love D&D or other similar table- top RPG-based podcasts, but think there just isn’t enough fatherly representation, you’re not alone! Dungeons & Daddies is just like a regular ol’ D&D game… but all the player characters happen to be ex- ceptionally normal suburban dads who were transported into a fantasy world to save their sons. Expect plenty of dad jokes, dad fashion and dad feelings. Later instal- ments pick up with the grandkids, turning the campaign into a truly intergenerational saga.
brick by brick
It’s 2006, and you put a disc into the new PlayStation 2. There’s a long, excruciating whirring sound as your screen stutters into life – then the John Williams score comes soaring in and a little red four-pronged brick starts spin- ning on your screen. Life is definitely good.
The original Lego Star Wars was a game that truly defined the quality, story-driven adventures that Lego is now most known for. Despite already being around for 10 years, with a series of racing and building games, this story is what started their bricky renaissance and shot the Lego games into hyperdrive. Whether that was due to the rabid glee of chopping things to pieces with your lightsaber in the search for twinkly blue coins, or thanks to the ability to triple-flip your character around the room like a ninja, is uncertain. But ever since, the playability, graphics and fun of these games has been constant.
They are, of course, not the most inspired games, and I’m sure for most people each one evokes a specific rage-filled memory. But there is never any doubt that the simplistic gameplay of a Lego story will plaster a shiny, plastic smile onto your face. And now there is Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
NEWCOMERS Headgum (60-90 min episodes) If you’re sick of telling people that no, you still haven’t seen [insert super-popular film franchise here], then you might enjoy taking the plunge with comedians Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus as they watch the likes of Star Wars, Fast And Furious and currently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for the first time. This isn’t audio commen- tary for the already-converted; this is for those who get to the third film in a five-part series and still can’t remember any charac- ter’s names – or care.
Not only a mocking and more entertaining version of the last three Star Wars films, but also a remake of the whole franchise, except this time the characters actually talk. Which, call me old and foolish, isn’t as fun as the grunting, pointing cut scenes of the last game. If this were any other game I would find fault in the lack of originality or change despite a near 20-year gap – but in this case, nostalgia wins and the feeling I get when those opening credits start up is still the same. I don’t want any more Star Wars movies, but I sure wouldn’t mind some more Lego games.
