EARLY JUNE POP FUN IN THE CASTLE Cardiff Castle Info:
cardiffcastle.com
If the Norman conquerors who erected Cardiff Castle nearly a thousand years ago could see it filled to bursting with overheated fans of 20th century ska-pop band Madness, they would die instantly of fear and confusion. On Wed 1 June, however, this is available to you, the Nutty Boys kicking off two months of concerts in the castle grounds across June and July (tickets £45). Fri 3 June brings Dermot Kennedy, whose accessibly urban-edged folk-pop has become a colossus in his native Ireland and beyond (tickets: £37.50). Sat 4 June is Jubilee Day, apparently, and from 3-7pm there’ll be music performed by Welsh entertainers including Bonnie Tyler, Mike Peters and John Owen Jones, plus hosts Shan Cothi and Aled Jones (tickets: £32.50). The following day, Scottish lad-pop sensation Gerry Cinnamon plays a sold-out show here (tickets: £40 or more if you can find one) and on Fri 10 June we have the esteemed Supreme Diana Ross [pictured] whooping it up in suitably regal surroundings (tickets: £85).
