Remember Decembers of yore, when any nightclub worth its salt would be hard at work booking a bumper Hogmanay bill to snare the ravers amidst competition from all sides? Well, you’ll have to settle for remembering it because, in Wales at least, it’s not happening this year or any time soon. In this boxout’s opinion, your best bet on New Year’s so- called Eve is this double-header (pending further lineup announcements) at the Tramshed. Afrodeutsche [pictured] will be visiting for the second time this year, after a slot at spring’s 6 Music Festival – she’s a DJ on the station – and should be good for a session of off-centre house and suchlike. Meanwhile, London boys Horse Meat Disco cut their teeth in the city’s gay pubs but have long since expanded their audience to something like the mainstream.
