Displaying in the Screen section of Mission Gallery for a month and a half, We Echo is a five-minute film comprising footage of south Wales’ woodlands and coastal landscape; the choreographed movement of Jodi Ann Nicholson, pictured here looking out to sea; and the spoken poetry of Taylor Edmonds, who also directed this. Edmonds, from Barry, was chosen as the Future Generations Commissioner’s ‘poet in residence’ for 12 months, among an impressive list of additions to her creative CV of late. Speaking to Buzz in October, she said, “I love to draw on inspiration from real life in my writing – taking an idea and creating something new,” and this comes through in We Echo.

Reframing Picton You may recall the prominence of 18th/19th century slave trader Thomas Picton’s likeness in Cardiff buildings such as this one being a hot topic around summer 2020; now, here is a three-room exhibition which the Museum say “has been years in the making”. It will address his brutal legacy in, especially, Trinidad and give contemporary artists from there an opportunity to display work which references it. (Until Thurs 9 Mar) The Rules Of Art?
