P&G to pay out $8m as industry- The filing claimed
wide benzene lawsuits mount US Procter & Gamble (P&G) has agreed to pay US$8m to settle a series of class action lawsuits claiming its dry conditioner, shampoo and deodorant sprays contain benzene. The consumer goods corporation voluntarily recalled 32 of its dry conditioner and shampoo sprays produced in the US in December 2021, due to the presence of the carcinogenic ingredient. Citigroup closer to recouping $500m from Revlon lenders
US Could Citigroup be poised to recoup the US$500m it accidentally paid to Revlon Inc lenders more than two years ago? A court filing has
revealed that three out of the ten lenders in
question are on the verge of repaying.
In August 2020, Citigroup, Revlon’s loan agent, mistakenly used its own money to prematurely pay off $894m owed by the beauty company. While some recipients returned their sums, ten lenders refused, leaving Citigroup $500m out of pocket.
A potential settlement was discussed in a joint letter by lawyers for Citigroup and the lenders, filed 5 December 2022 in a Manhattan federal court. According to the letter, three lenders have “indicated they are willing to sign an agreement” to end the litigation. The others are said to be considering dates for their payments.
