Paul Hedley Battle ready (p24)


Paul is Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service’s (NFRS’s) chief fire officer, National Fire Chiefs Council’s


lead for wildfires, and chair of its wildfire group. He was NFRS strategic lead for EU projects developing internal operational response capabilities, and benchmarking tactics and procedures against EU partners. These include multi agency and international flood response and preparedness, forest fires and e-learning for natural disaster prevention, preparedness and response.


Paul Henson Building safety (p32)


As sales and marketing director at Ramtech Electronics, Paul has a background in wireless technology


within construction. He has been active in the design, patenting and development of wireless emergency technology for UK and European construction markets.


Carl Hunter Prevailing wind (p20)


Carl is CEO of Coltraco Ultrasonics. A council member of the British Naval Equipment Association, member of


the Export Council of the Fire Industry Association and its Working Group Gases, he is the lead fire delegate to the International Standards Organisation in gaseous extinguishing systems and an active member of the Society of Maritime Industries.


Richard Jenkins Unlocking value (p36)


Richard joined NSI in March 2014 and comes from a general business background, including the engineering


and vehicle industries. His expertise includes business reorganisation, supply chain integration, process design and customer focused strategic development.


David Mowatt Clear on smoke (p40)


David is the current chairman of the Smoke Control Association (SCA) and has been active in the smoke control


market for nearly 30 years. He has been involved in various smoke ventilation related research projects, and several full scale fire and smoke tests. David is currently overseeing the introduction of a new certification scheme for installers of smoke control systems and the updating of the SCA’s in depth guide to smoke control in apartment buildings.


William Roszczyk Strategies shared (p48)


William is editor of F&RM, and worked in business to business journalism for seven years, focused on editing


an international remanufacturing magazine.


James Ruddiman Cut and dried (p28)


James gained experience managing risk during his career as an FX trader in the City of London for the Bank of


Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. He joined The Flood Company as sales director two years ago, and applies his risk management skills to helping companies find effective solutions to minimise the disruption to their business.


David Sibert Viewpoint (p1)


From 2008 until this May, David was the national fire safety advisor and IRMP advisor to the Fire Brigades


Union. In May, he left the FBU to take up the post as head of special projects group at the FPA. The special projects group is a growing area within the FPA, and it includes the fire experimental and research laboratory as well as an increasing amount of testing to British Standards.


Scott Starr Prevailing wind (p20)


Scott is marketing director for Firetrace International, with 15 years of experience in the fire suppression


industry, and he is responsible for product management. He has been directly involved with developing pre engineered fire suppression systems and defining their application, and has extended his knowledge to the design and application of engineered clean agent systems. He is a member of the NFPA Technical Committee for NFPA 45: Fire Protection for Laboratories Using Chemicals, working to achieve best practice in fire safety standards.


Keith Wells Play for time (p44)


As managing director of Quelfire, a manufacturer and supplier of passive fire protection, Keith is dedicated


to protecting people and property. In seven years of heading the company, he significantly increased the proportion of the company’s annual investment going into developing new products or systems that push the benchmark for passive fire safety in buildings.
